Quote from my husbands sermon yesterday
“To be crucified was a horrible and humiliating experience. But Jesus allowed this to happen to Himself. Why? Remember what Jesus said? “For this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify Your name.” The answer defies human logic. The Father would be glorified when His one and only Son hung on Calvary’s cross. The Father’s name would be glorified when His Son cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” The Father’s name would be glorified when His Son gave up His physical life, brutalized beyond what any human being could stand. The Father’s name would be glorified because, as His Son said, “And I, when I am lifted up, I will draw all people to Myself.”
No one could go through this pain and suffering unless there was something greater on the other side of the pain and suffering. What was on the other side? What was it that constrained Jesus to allow this to happen to Him?
Do you know what was on the other side of that pain and suffering? You. You. You were on the other side. You are the reason that Jesus, though His soul was troubled, He went through all of this so that you would have the gift of eternal life. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world went uncomplaining forth so that He could pay in full the price of our sins and win for us the crown of righteousness, so that He could win for us a gift that will never be taken away, the gift of life eternal. Amen”.
Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing that. 🙏
Amen!
