When we were in school, EVERYBODY got measles. And mumps. And chickenpox.
Don’t recall any deaths.
When I got measles, my Mom made me pajamas that were white with red spots!
Neighbors would stop by to see them.

I had the measles when I was eleven. Mom kept me in a dark room for some reason. This was in the ‘60s. I remember many kids got it, and I don’t remember a panic about it.
