I had the measles when I was eleven. Mom kept me in a dark room for some reason. This was in the ‘60s. I remember many kids got it, and I don’t remember a panic about it.

We were in a dark room, too. IIRC, maybe there could be possible eye damage if there was too much light with measles. Or maybe an old wives tale.
