You can’t beat Johnny the Shoe Shine guy.
Liam Neisen is playing Frank Drebin Jr. who’s just as bumbling as Neilsen’s Drebin Sr.
Tonight’s special guest star. Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln.
That show was only SIX episodes?! I had no idea. I absolutely loved that show.
I love naked fun movies, and the police squad show
As well as airplane, top secret, etc.
However I got to say the preview of the new naked gun movie looks aweful
I want to like the new movie but I don’t.
Naked Gun was a product of its time.
I tend to agree. Nielsen created the whole Drebin character to fit his persona. Someone else trying to do it would be like someone else trying to play Jim Carey’s Ace Ventura character. Also, the guys who wrote Police Story were brilliant. I believe they also wrote the movie Airplane. It’s very difficult to recapture lightning in a bottle.

It sure does.
How about it...especially afraid to laff at ourselves...
A line in that article compared the original Naked Gun to Snow White.
You don’t do that.

Are you Mark Cuban? 🤣🤣🤣
Just had a thought.
Would Ben Shapiro take the role? Voice, body type.
“Yes, it’s very impressive…”
Leslie Nielsen wasn’t noted as a comic actor when the movie came out. That was why he was cast. He was always the super serious guy in every movie he made earlier in his career.
That was one of the “jokes” of the movie. His deadpan delivery like he was in a serious movie...
Yes, the were the Zucker brothers, David and Jerry, and Jim Abrajs. They wrote and made:
The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977)
Airplane (1980)
Airplane 2 (1982)
Police Squad TV series (1982)
Top Secret (1984)
Naked Gun (1988)
Naked Gun 2 (1991)
Naked Gun 3 (1994)
They were told that it failed as a TV show because with good comedy, you actually have to actively watch it to enjoy it.
Apparently too many people watch TV passively, or in the background - and thus all those carefully constructed gags the Zucker-Abrahms-Zucker team formed went unappreciated.
Meant Jim Abrahams.
I hope they include one gag as it opens....
Liam walks in and someone starts...Are you still alive?” which gets everyone discussing...
I loved the Naked Gun movies, but can’t we PLEASE come up with some original movies for once? When I go to the movies (not often anymore) I always watch the previews and count how many are sequels, remakes or reboots. Invariably at least 90% are not original movies.
I had read that. From Wiki:

Cancellation
ABC announced the cancellation of Police Squad! after four of its six episodes had aired in March 1982. The final two episodes were aired that summer. In an interview for the DVD release of the series, Nielsen said ABC entertainment president Tony Thomopoulos asserted Police Squad! was canceled because viewers had to pay close attention to the show in order to get much of the humor: “the viewer had to watch it in order to appreciate it”.[25] Nielsen also thought the premise was more effective in the successful Naked Gun films because the much larger screen size in a cinema increases the efficacy of the visual gags. In its annual “Cheers and Jeers” issue, TV Guide magazine called the explanation for the cancellation “the most stupid reason a network ever gave for ending a series”.[26]
