The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced Monday that it is ending a half-century of partnerships with the federal government to serve refugees and migrant children, saying the “heartbreaking” decision follows the Trump administration’s abrupt halt to funding.
The break will inevitably result in fewer services than what Catholic agencies were able to offer in the past to people in need, the bishops said.
“As a national effort, we simply cannot sustain the work on our own at current levels or in current form,” Archbishop Timothy Broglio, president of the conference, said in a statement.

High time this arrangement with the federal government ends. It is a corruption of the idea of Christian charity in which the NCCB has sold its soul for government dollars. I might add that the federal funds would not be necessary if there was not a vocations crisis as well. In former days, charitable orders of nuns and brothers would care for the poor, not social workers and other paid employees.

There was a very brief time in my life when things were pretty bad. It took a great deal of courage to force myself, being an independent person, to seek help.
I approached Catholic Charities, being a Catholic, still am, still love my chosen religion, ...and they denied any help.
Now, I am in a position to contribute to Charities...but NOT CATHOLIC CHARITIES.
I have others to which I contribute...not out of meanness, but out of empirical data.
It was unwise to dismiss me.
And they really have nothing to do with the Catholic Church...at least I think there is no connection.

The churches should sell some of their expensive properties and the Vatican’s priceless artworks.
They’re the ones that usher in destitute 3rd world refugees to your city and then dump them onto the welfare, Section 8, schools and medical system for life.
Weren’t they supposed to be doing this for the love of God, Christ, Holy Ghost, Mary, and others to all of God’s children? If yes then they wouldn’t be dropping such a partnership over money. Or maybe it was the money that was their driving motivation?
