So, we've got ourselves another stray animal story, this time we just don't know where the heck this bird came from.
An emu with injuries to their neck and right wing is safe at our Escondido Campus this morning. Our Humane Officers & Emergency Response Team received a call about the bird running loose in Vista last night. The emu will receive medical care while we search for a possible owner. pic.twitter.com/LQSJXWAX20— San Diego Humane Society (@sdhumane) April 3, 2025
Yeah, in the San Diego suburbs some poor hurt emu was just wandering around helplessly on the streets. The humane society doesn't know where he came from or how he got to Vista.
The San Diego Humane Society said Humane Law Enforcement Officers and the Emergency Response Team responded Wednesday night to a report of a large bird wandering through a yard in Vista.
They arrived to find an emu with injuries to its neck and right wing.
Again ... this is really weird. I wonder how he could have been injured.
(Sorry, the gif was perfect)
One would assume it got out of some exotic animal farm or petting zoo nearby. But the fact that no owner has come forward is a bit odd.
The rescuers got the bird to a doctor and have named it "Claudius" because, well, I guess that's just what you name a stray emu.
Emu? I thought it was a kangaroo. 😆😄
This one is sooo simple, the emu is obviously from emuland!
It’s pronounced “Bibbitty”.
