Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he told a top Kremlin envoy visiting the U.S. that the Russia needs to clarify whether it is committed to peace in Ukraine and that the White House expects an answer soon.
The messages come as Trump has shown signs of irritation at the pace of peace talks. The Kremlin envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, completed two days of talks with President Trump’s Russia negotiator at the White House on Thursday, the first high-level bilateral meeting in the U.S. since before the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Rubio said that Dmitriev was given a message to take back to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the U.S. “needs to know whether you’re serious about peace.”
“Ultimately, Putin will have to make that decision,” Rubio told reporters at a NATO conference in Brussels on Friday. “We will know from their answers very soon whether they are serious about proceeding with real peace or whether it’s a delay tactic.”

U.S. Told Kremlin Envoy That Putin Needs to Show He Wants Peace
—
Not until he has restored the old USSR borders with a nice spacious buffer zone.
Sometimes peace is achieved when the war is pursued more fervently.
At least that is the opinion of two world leaders exemplified by their actions.
Benjamin Netanyahu has gone on the warpath since October 7, 2023 and got a ‘war criminal’ warrant for it from the ICC.
Vladimir Putin has gone on the warpath since February 24, 2022 and got a ‘war criminal’ warrant for it from the ICC.
Russian Urals oil dropped to $50 a barrel on Friday. A disaster for Putin.
President Trump told Putin to stop the war and he’s not joking.
This is an interesting item going on.
Kirill Dmitriev
This is not an accidental selection. He’s the portfolio of the Russian Sovereign Wealth Fund, or one of them, the other being the National Wealth Fund ($120B). Both are funded mostly from oil.
He is Ukraine-born, but he is a proven Russian patriot.
Content of his discussions are not known. There has been talk in the oil community about the reduction in oil prices essentially ensuring that Trump’s fundamental goal of increasing US oil production will fail. Wells do not get drilled if the flow cannot fund the loan.
Russian oil opportunities will be tempting to companies like Chevron, who recently had to lay off 10% of the workforce.
portfolio manager.
They have been heavily in gold of late.
“U.S. Told Kremlin Envoy That Putin Needs to Show He Wants Peace”
Fat chance of that. He wants to retore the old soviet borders to gain what he has been missing in worth from the countries that told the USSR to go to hell in the early 1990’s. This is about worth, not patriotism. It’s a civil war, not an armed conflict between two countris with more to be added later. The Ukraine just had the most worth so they started there.

“Russian Urals oil dropped to $50 a barrel on Friday. A disaster for Putin.”
He has been drawing the old age pension fund to pay for the war.
Disaster for Russia.
Putin’s oil will be selling for $45 a barrel by the end of the week. A nightmare for Russia.
Let's look at "Z"...he was born in Ukraine when it was part of Russia. He only spoke Russian until he was 17 and then took English. His shows were ALL in Russian. All his education was in Russian schools.
Thinking about it...I'd call him "The Accidental President".
Reminds me of Being There.
“Putin’s oil will be selling for $45 a barrel by the end of the week. A nightmare for Russia.”
May it be so!
And with Russian oil at $45 a barrel, Putin will still have to sell it to China and India at a 30% discount.
“National Wealth Fund ($120B).”
Down 50% since the 2022 invasion.
Well President Trump is warning Iran about ‘bad things’ happening to them that sounds more serious than anything he says about Ukraine-Russia.
Those B-2 bombers at Diego Garcia and the new aircraft carrier in the CENTCOM area have nothing to do with Vladimir Putin and Russia.
And down another 20% this past week.
President Trump warned Putin that he would decimate the price of Russian oil. Promise made. Promise kept.

The SFRF was exhausted by 2017. It had been depleted by budget deficits and the low oil prices. The SFRF was emptied by the end of 2017,[3] and therefore ceased to exist, leaving the NWF as the sole reserve fund of the Russian Federation.
