My daughter and I like to travel. We live in Spokane, WA, and are interested in in American history. Thinking about Savanna Georgia, But maybe some other place . I love New Orleans, where my grandmother lived but daughter does not think that's safe now
Door County is one of my favorite places. Prefer early September.
All over West Virginia. There are many historical sites from the Civil War, and Point Pleasant has a lot of Revolutionary War history.
If cryptozoology is your thing, there’s a lot of that in that town as well. The Mothman Museum and the store next door to it are worth it just because they’re interesting.
In March, a friend and I spent a few days celebrating Fasnacht in Helvetia with the locals. It’s a pseudo-pagan event, but it had upwards of two thousand people attend this year just due to publicity from Fallout 76. That’s a lot of money coming into a town that normally has maybe a hundred people.
Door county is great. Inlaws had a summer home there.
I
Redneck Riveria.
Ft. Pickens.
The FloraBama beach bar. Mullet tossing.
Great bay and offshore fishing.
Charleston and Savanna really appeal to me. Been to Galvestone, and Cocoa Beach.
Alaska, where I lived for 20 years. Left 35 years ago. Would like to spend a summer there.
We also saw Luray Caverns in Virginia, which I really enjoyed.
Galveston was once a hideout for the pirate Jean Lafitte.
Pelican Island was once the Ellis Island of the south. It was called Quarantine Island. The med students from UTMB were ferried over there to examine immigrants.
The USS Texas is now based there.
The Strand is like walking through history.
Another great attraction is Moody Gardens.
Mardi Gras and Dickens on the Strand are fun events.
Hilton Head, SC. One of my favorite places.
The Spanish recorded them doing it in Cusco 500 years ago.
My daughter’s best friend’s in-laws live in Alaska. Charming people I met at Thanksgiving dinner in Spokane. They swear that Alaska is not as cold as I think it is.
Nola is not safe.
Go to Mobile, Alabama - Pensacola, Florida. Tons of history.
RLTW
BVI
PORT ANTONIO AREA
SANTA FE my usual
Bitterroot’s
Los Angeles
New Orleans /Navarre my usuals again
Patagonia
From Cusco to Costco. Progress.
I always felt that picking a location was the wrong place to start.
What if you get there and it sucks?
Pick what you want to do most and that will inform you where you have to go.
If you want to go indoor skydiving or mountain climbing then visiting my area is going to be a terrible vacation. If you were more into salmon charters, seeing the last known specimens of some endangered wild orchid, or learning about potato genetics then visiting near me would be a great vacation.
Lakes, pines, cool summer nights, great fishing and solitude.
Unfortunately, like so many other states, we’re solid red but are governed by a bastion of blue lunatics.
Fortunately, for the most part we’re able to avoid them and the hell-holes to which they’ve laid waste.
Exploring the California missions is nice! You can imagine how wonderful California was for such a long time and the missions themselves are interesting and beautiful.
Both must sees for Americans no doubt
I go to Nola 3-4 times a year
Yes use caution
And I’m from Jackson Mississippi so Nola is like kindergarten risk wise
Pritchard ain’t exactly safe either btw
