Started with JFK. It was designed to be a feel good organization that turned its participants into life long democrats. The followup was Americorp. It sent middle class ‘volunteers’ into poor areas to make them feel guilty about their white privilege.
I’ve despised the Peace Corps concept for almost that long.
#1 The Peace Corps beguiles young, naive, impressional people into very risky situations w/o support. The volunteers are left on their own in dangerous circumstances, rapes and assaults are basically ignored.
#2 Liberals and their “sounds noble” hare brained, bootless schemes disgust me....=
#3 There is so much that needs to be done in USA and locally if you have a sincere urge to contribute your efforts rather than virtue signal or enhance your resume.
