The stabber’s lawyer definitely will argue self-defense...

This update just popped up in my news feed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnXZofpMW8Y

It gives more details:

- It was raining when Anthony sat under the tent for Austin’s team.
- A witness said Austin told Anthony to move because he didn’t go to their school.
- The witness said, “Anthony grabbed his bag, opened it, and reached inside and proceeded to tell Austin, ‘Touch me and see what happens.’”
- Then, per the report, Austin “grabbed Anthony to tell him to move,” and “Anthony pulled out a black knife and stabbed Austin once in the chest and then ran away.”
- When Anthony was arrested, he told officers, “He put his hands on me. I was protecting myself.”

Many people online (including FR) are looking at this case through the lens of race.

I am not. If the roles were reversed, my opinion would be the same.

Maybe Anthony took cover under the nearest tent during the rain.

But, it doesn’t sound like self-defense because he could have walked away. He could have complained about their poor sportsmanship. He could have made their team look really bad.

Instead, he was quick to pull out the knife he brought. But the case is not as clear cut as many people believe.

It is murky with the additional details. It is a mixed bag. Not sure how to
rule. Anthony fled doesn’t help. Anthony clould have just walked away when asked to leave. Austin could have acted differently too. If Austin did, then he would be still alive.

This is a tragedy that could have been avoided.
