Ah a flashback to 45 years ago. When the first movie became a mega hit the whiners immediately cried there were no blacks in it so Lucas bowing to this introduced Lando in Empre. Star Wars is dead to me now so wail away John. The more damage you can do to woke Disney the better.
Nobody cared about that in the 70s. Lando came to be because Ford was only signed on a one picture deal (unlike the rest of the cast). And Ford wasn’t sure he wanted to come back. So there was an intention to replace Solo with Lando, which is why he’s basically the same character. By the time Ford signed on they already had Billy Dee under contract and decided 2 was more fun than 1. Also Ford had once again only signed a 1 picture deal, so having Lando already set for 3 was strategically smart (also part of the ending, if they couldn’t re-sign Ford, no problem, just don’t rescue Solo). Now in the gap between trilogies, yes the world had changed and SW was getting heat for the lack of blacks.
