I had five Romaine 'stumps' in water in wide-mouth Mason jars. They were in an East facing window that gets sun for about 6 hours a day. I fertilized them ONCE with a light solution of Tiger Bloom because that's what I had in the house. Got enough lettuce for the 'base' of a salad for the two of us, but they didn't seem to want to re-grow again, so I composted them. That'll teach 'em, LOL!

Two reasons why I can't have nice things! So HAPPY that warmer weather is here so these chuckle heads can spend more time outside. Boyd and Eva Grace were holy terrors this past Winter! I can't even begin to list the lamps, crockery and fine china they decided to smash this Winter season. They were a little extra-nutty due to me having, 'puppies on the porch' all Summer, so I guess they think I deserved it. Cat Logic, 101.

Cutting off the romaine heads and leaving about 2” of stumps in the ground works really well. It starts growing again quickly and while you don’t get the original yield back it’s bout 2/3. And it’s easy. Just use a sharp scissors.
