'Discouraging': Ontario measles outbreak rises to 572 cases, putting parents and educators on alert

More measles cases have been reported in Ontario over the last week than the total number of cases recorded in the decade between 2013 and 2023

A mother of an infant, a principal of a religious school, and a public health physician — they all share the desire to get kids vaccinated against measles as Ontario recorded another 102 cases over the past week.

Public Health Ontario said Thursday there have been 572 cases since the outbreak began in October, 453 of them confirmed and 119 probable. Of the 42 people requiring hospitalization, two have required intensive care, and 36 have been children — most of them unvaccinated.

Article content The highly infectious disease is still predominantly impacting unvaccinated infants, kids and teenagers, most in Southwestern and Grand Erie public health units.

That worries Rosemary Tamburini, whose nine-month-old baby is just a few months shy of his first measles shot.

She doesn’t want to wait to vaccinate her child any longer, and is considering early immunization.

“I don’t think I’m alone in that. I’ve had discussions with several moms in Ontario who are in a similar situation looking to potentially get vaccinated early,” said Tamburini, who lives in Toronto’s west-end suburb, Etobicoke.

The measles vaccine typically starts for babies at one-year-old, but Ontario public health units have made it available to babies as young as six months in response to the outbreak.

New measles cases have appeared in Waterloo, in the western edge of the Greater Toronto Area, and Lambton County in southwestern Ontario. Just south in Chatham-Kent, cases nearly doubled to 39 in the past week, and the spread continues northeast in Huron Perth where 55 people have been sickened.

Ontario isn’t Texas, so the left loses that.

Clearly they lack strength, and diversity is strength. So they need to import a lot more people from Central and South America, and from Africa.

Measles, mumps, and chickenpox were all just childhood diseases that cycled through our grade schools when I was a kid. Only things I was vaccinated for were polio, and small pox. Being a farm boy growing up in Missouri, I kept current on tetnus shots for nail and fish hook purposes amongst other asundery things. We called it growing up. Worst thing about chickenpox is the threat of Shingles in your later years. I’ve had both. The last vaccine I’ll ever get was the Shingles vax. Natural immunity worked for Covid. When you let in people from other countries you get in to what they brought. Smallpox was a scourge to our Native Americans.

Every time measles is mentioned, show people this video. Pushing more ‘vaccines’ every day is evil.

It would be interesting to know the demographics and immigration status of those unvaccinated kids.

It may not be just kids who get the measles. Adults can get measles too. I got measles as an adult. Mumps as an adult too.

Yes, that is the only vaccine I have received lately is the shingles one. My uncle had a horrible case of it so I wanted to prevent it. My sister has had it a few times.

Ontario has a sizable Mennonite community. The Texas outbreak started in our Mennonite community.

I had a spot of shingles on my back about the size of a silver dollar when I was in my middle forties. My doctor looked at my back and said “ you’ve had chickenpox “. I said yes when I was young. He said “no I’m telling you you’ve had chickenpox and that shingles outbreak is the result of that”. He told me to get rest and work on eating right to get my immune system working better and gave me a lotion to help with the pain. Each time my cotton tee shirt touch the shingles spot it felt like a torch flame. Then a year or so ago I had them come back on my forehead and was advised to see an eye doctor. It seems the chickenpox virus lives forever in your spinal fluid and can inflame nerves endings anywhere on or in your body and can even cause blindness. The Veterans medical coverage covers the vax, so I went and got it after I got over that out break and had an eye examination. Anyone who’s had chickenpox needs to get that vax. It’s been researched and tested for years unlike Covid crap. Anyone that’s had shingles has my deepest sympathy. Until you’ve been there you haven’t delt with pain. IMO Regards

We need to go up to Canada and put up billboards all over the place stating “The measles are going to hurt YOU more than they’re going to hurt US!”
