I don’t see any evidence that anyone here worships celebrities either but I sure did enjoy watching Gene Hackman’s acting.

It must have been nearly 30 years ago that I was watching a movie with Hackman in it and the movie was really bad. Poor camera work, worse dialogue, lousy audio, terrible plot line and the other actors were rank amateurs. But Hackman’s acting was great. Watched the whole thing just to see his brilliance.

Since then I’ve watched every Gene Hackman movie I’ve run across and have never been disappointed.

He was an excellent actor, and I can’t recall any time he brought his politics out.

I have no idea if it's indicative of his politics, but one stinker of a movie Hackman was in was Runaway Jury wherein he plays an unethical republican lawyer working for gun manufacturers, who are of course evil. The giveaway is that John Cusack got top billing - ugh, I should have known.

This article is strange. He was 79 in 2009 when his doctor said stop with the stress on your heart. He moved to New Mexico for a less stressful life. Millions of Americans do the same even younger typically to Florida or Arizona. Not a thing strange about this move.

My favorite Hackman movie was a comedy, “The Replacements” where he played a NFL Coach during a players strike and he had to coach a band of misfits, starring Keanu Reeves as QB..........Hackman’s comedy creds don’t get enough light shined on them!..............
