I liked “MacArthur Park” when it first came out. When it hit the charts in the spring of 1968, General Douglas MacArthur, the park’s namesake, was one of my heroes, especially at a time when our political and military leaders were so inept. Being a Southern Californian, I also liked the fact that the song was about Los Angeles. And I still like the song.

“All by myself” by Eric Carmen is ear poison

Blinded by The Light by Manford Mann or Bruce Springsteen is pure, 100%, sustainable dreck

Wildfire makes me want to engage in self immolation

Finally, AUTOTUNE is worthy of an Executive Order deeming it as a crime against humanity

“Kars for Kids” I immediately change the channel on the TV or radio.

I do, too.

Actually I meant to write Rubber Soul and Revolver. Abbey Road was good...but not as good as the other two.

How about “Keep Feeling Fascination” by the Human League? That high-pitched wailing drives me crazy.

I think The Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East is one of the greatest albums of all time.

“Imagine”. In a class by its own. It makes we want to strangle the simpering, po-faced, adenoidal, brachycephalic cretins who think it’s the most profound thing ever bleated into a long-suffering microphone.

I don’t think that song had anything to do with General MacArthur or the park here in Little Rock.

A pop song written by Jimmy Webb in 1967, inspired by his breakup with Susie Horton and his visits to MacArthur Park in Los Angeles. The song was first recorded by Richard Harris and became a hit in 1968, winning a Grammy Award and charting in several countries.

I’m not a huge fan of that album but I must say that the first 3 or 4 minutes of “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed” is about as good as it ever gets!
