“Yeah, do enough of that and you will slow the Earth’s rotation.”

You might not be far off with that sir. If a field will make a motor turn a field could make a motor slow down. Wind generators use dynamic load pile and field braking. I have often wondered how out of whack the earth is after years and years of rocket and jet engine testing. We never thought to counter the thrust with equal force. Which way were they pushing? Even just a little nudge from years of testing could mean a whole lot in the end game. I know one thing, we are already kind of screwed. We have upset the mass of earth by buying from China and not sending enough mass back in return. We are way off balance now...

Thoughts to ponder...

I think we are safe. We measure the Earth’s rotation very precisely. We’d notice. 😊

I still think China should buy back some more mass anyhow. Sounds like a good reason... :)

But seriously, if they screwed up and upset the natural order of things would they be honest and tell us the truth?

My money is on no...

"The earth's rotation"?

So it does move. Galileo has been vindicated.

-“Maintaining U.S. government funding for basic research is essential—and an investment in all of our futures,” the professor said.-

I’m skeptical but I think they could determine if it works and can be scaled up to useful outputs with a small amount of time and money (say $100,000 and one year) if the government does not fund it.

If the government funds it the project will explode to $10 billion in ten years with no results.

“With a little more time and money we can make this work. We are so close”

The magnetic field of earth generates enough energy to move a compass needle. I imagine they’ve figured out a way to keep the needle moving.

(And, following Freeper protocol, I haven’t read the article. 😉)

Gee, the Earth’s magnetic field keeps the sun from stripping away the atmosphere. So, in the interest of protecting the environment, let’s figure out a way to extract this energy!

Just don’t try to slow it enough to go back in time. You could come back to present time and fine George Clooney is Bruce Wayne again.

““Maintaining U.S. government funding for basic research is essential—and an investment in all of our futures,” the professor said.”

Bingo... That is the “energy” that will come from this... Nothing more...

Did you read the description of the high “Technology?”

“First, the team made a hollow cylinder from a soft, magnetic material containing manganese, zinc, and iron. Although it was purchased a decade ago, Chyba said the custom-manufactured MnZn ferrite shell only cost “about $400.”

MnZn ferrites are commonly used in electronic applications for making transformers, transducers and inductors. So “custom” means “cut to length with a hacksaw”.

“The team also built a customized wood “turntable” and mounted it on an MRI cart.”

Drilled holes in a Lazy Susan and mounted it on an “MRI” cart. The base could have easily been a milk crate or bed and bath end table.

“Chyba told The Debref that the turntable guaranteed that the relative position of the meters, wires, and device did not change during rotation.”

Easily turned and aimed because of the Lazy Susan and stable once aimed.

Fancy words for very primitive construction using garbage dumpster hauls and throw aways.

17 uVolts? Really?

0.000017 Volts? What was the input impedance of the Meters? Was it across a resistive load? How much resistance?

You can stick 2 meter leads straight up in the air and read 17uV.

Absolutely, And if outside you can even use one to tell how fast the wind is blowing by what it reads.
