True. People truly did sit by their own home fireplaces back then.
Yep. My most recent episode with chat GPT changing its mind was when I asked about the legitimacy nof the shroud of Turin.
It’s first response was there was much evidence against the legitimacy of the shroud.
After verbal sparring, chat GPT finally admitted the only case against the shroud was carbon dating on a section of the cloth that was repaired in the middle ages.
By the end of my debate with chat gpt, it admitted that the image on the shroud was not painted, had remnants of human blood, and was a result of high energy burst which to this day cannot be replicated by humans.
Tells a lot about this artificial intelligence craze. It can be manipulated and guided.
I thought he should do it in first term so yes I agree he should do weekly televised and then released to internet for those who missed it.
Who said it would be on the net? Live stream on X and Trump’s platform.
I prefer some MMA beat downs.
Great idea.
I’m old enough to remember Roosevelt’s Fireside Chats. I was 5 then, and the family did indeed gather around the radio to listen. Everyone did.
You’re right. We did sit in our living rooms to listen, perhaps in front of the fireplace.
“This would force the Democrats the publicly defend their crazy policies.”
Victor Davis Hanson harps on this all the time. They NEVER defend any of their policies. If letting 10-20 million illegals in and erasing our border is such a good idea, then tell us WHY! Defend it!
This is one of the main reasons the Dems are on the ropes. Their policies are anti-American and anti-common sense. They cannot defend them. Hence the November 2024 results. But, if Americans knew anything about the Democrat policies and corruption, Trump would have won 100 million votes.
DJT: welcome americans to texting at the table... with me is Pete Hegseth, and Tulsi Gabbard...(beep) yes, and this text from JD, “Hi y’all, merica” . We’re doing these chats to let (beep) Americans know, hehehe Barron sent me a meme of Lindsey Graham... hehehe liked. Let americans know what’s going on (beep) J. Goldblurb? deleted.
Agreed....
I have resigned to the fact that current Chat bots are basically a very robust search engine.
A very good way to look at it.
AI should be treated as a very robust search engine. This would require the user to have the intellect and desire to challenge AI and not merely accept this fact first response or answer to a question or a search.
Unfortunately, most people who use or will use AI lack the intellect or desire to pursue for the knowledge. They will accept this fact the first response given to them by AI.
Excellent idea. Hold them on Signal and invite us all.
Surprised you haven’t been doing this for years.
The UK’s had “Question Time” on BBC1 since 1979 - it’s gone downhill in recent years, but is based on the BBC Radio 4 program “Any Questions?” which started in October 1948 and is still going.
Vladimir Putin has Q&A sessions every now and again.
it’s a good idea, but the questions (and the answers) need to be unscripted and unfiltered - otherwise all you get is predictable softball questions with boring, predictable answers.
It used to be a common thing on British chat shows for the PR team or agent for an American celebrity guest to insist on filtering the questions. But the format improved immensely with Graham Norton, who has a knack for getting guests to relax so much they’ll tell the audience something that their handlers would’ve never allow to happen on a more tightly managed e.g. American talk show.
It has created hundreds of cracking, and totally unexpected, interview gems - where one guest’s bizarr-o story has the other guests crying with laughter.
For example, the time when Sir Patrick Stewart was steered into explaining how he found out that he isn’t circumcised...

Hugh Jackman absolutely corpses with laughter.
Matt Damon once said, being on the Graham Norton show was the most fun he’s ever had on any talk show. If you could get the Trump administration on a show like that, now I’d buy that for a dollar!
Lately I’m hearing more people expressing doubts about Trump’s actions and programs, i.e. tariffs, removal of some non-violent illegals, mass layoffs, agency closures, personnel moves, etc.
I don’t have heartburn about any of it, but then I’m looking at the long game. I’d hate to be laid off from a cushy gummint job — who wouldn’t — but Trump has a plan. More and more, I think Trump has a plan.
Tariffs in particular look like a massive plan on Trump’s part. Remember that the U.S. once ran entirely on tariff revenue, which if resurrected could mean the end of the IRS. (Yay!)
But I see Trump SWIMMING in the negotiations behind international tariffs. He loves negotiating and tariffs have already been threatened, imposed, raised, lowered, delayed and/or canceled, all at the direction of the Grand Lion in the White House! I think he’s having fun with it! And I believe we all will soon, too.
