Reading all the responses, I think there probably is more to this story than has been reported. I should have looked beyond the report.

It is true that terrorists disguise themselves. It’s also true that at least for a time (don’t know if it’s still this way) people from nations that have a lot of terrorists were able to board planes without going through the searches). I think I remember hearing that they weren’t requiring searches of people wearing burkas either - but were patting down nuns.

I don’t see why the pilot was doing something other than flying the plane though. Maybe the “more to the story” is that the guy somehow jammed the lock from the inside so the attendants couldn’t open the door with the key and the only one strong enough to bust open the door was the pilot - in which case this guy’s actions put the whole plane at risk if the pilot was needed to actually fly the plane at that point. If that’s the case, then this guy is a fool to sue because discovery will not be kind to him.

Maybe this was a dry run, to see how the plane’s security would react to a locked bathroom door.

A lot of variables. I should have thought of those variables. Especially since this is the Daily Mail reporting, I should have realized there was probably more to the story.

The Jew-baiting was out of line. But as you say, there were probably a bunch of other variables. A pilot doesn’t stop piloting to go bust down the bathroom door and throw a guy out of it for no reason - especially when the attendants have the key.

“ the door was the pilot - in which case this guy’s actions put the whole plane at risk if the pilot was needed to actually fly the plane at that point. “

?

There are 2-3 pilots on a United flight. All of whom are responsible for the safety of the aircraft

That includes physically placing uncooperative people on board in restraints I am sure

I know that’s what I expect of any pilot when I’m flying

When people suspect that the pilot is an idiot then we have a problem

I do not expect the pilot to be an idiot. I have no reason to. And I have every reason not to

I expect passengers to be un-vetted for idiocy. I expect the news media to by in-vetted for idiocy
