Must have been the First Age Of SUVs.
It’s called an “interglacial,” the period between Ice Ages.
We are in one now. An Ice Age is scheduled to follow.
Yes they roamed the land and we’re preyed on by Mercury Cougars!
Yup. People make fun of the Tyrannosaurus’ front legs, but they only had to reach the steering wheel.
“Now, new geological data show that sea levels rose about 125 feet (38 meters) between 11,000 and 3,000 years ago”
Stupid conclusion. They cannot predict the weather 5 days in the future.
(Weather underground comes very close on their 10 day forecasts)
It was Fred Flintstone taking his family to Disney Rock Park on Pteradactyl Airlines....damn him...
That’s a screen sprayer!
Right.
And sea levels have dropped like a thousand feet since the time of Noah
Gee. I’d better get some sunscreen and a bathing suit!
USGS says 390 to 425 feet between 19,000 and 6,000 years ago.
Obviously there is overlap in these two time periods so there could have been a large rise in the 11,000 - 19,000 YA period.
Here's an estimate of sea level change by millennium from today to 20,000 years ago ("YA"). The "Big Melts" occurred 5,000 to 16,000 years ago.

19 to 20 | ~0–3 | ~0–0.036 |
So what? This and other studies have shown the temperature of the planet has been changing over THOUSANDS of years with no influence by humans. I’m still waiting for the New Ice Age predicted back in the 70’s, and the World famine, and the lack of Ozone to kill the world by radiation. I keep waiting, but get no results. Whoa is me.
And we’re not even out of the last Little Ice Age, yet! Boy, these people have nothing better to worry about, do they?
Tell that to the grand canyon!-)
Transgressions and regressions. They are a part of the geologic history of the planet. Sea level is always changing. That is what causes the horizontal layers in the rock when you look at an outcrop or road cut.
So as we enter the next ice age, which is long overdue, what we should be worried about is receding sea levels - Waterworld ain’t happening.
Yeah. The ice melted. It became water. The water flowed into the oceans. There was more water in the oceans now. The level of the oceans rose because of the new water.
And the point is...?
And the sea levels dropped 125 feet when the Ice Age struck.
If Antarctica has shrunken over centuries, what was the maximum reach of the ice? Better yet, why so much ice at the South Pole, and less at the North?
