I thought Dean Martin sang this one. Maybe just on his own show.

The faint memory I have of either singer; I used to get Bobby Rydell mixed up with Bobby Darin. Both tended to perform wearing a suit jacket.

I like the original version. It's about a guy who dreams he paints his hands and face blue and then goes flying into space, beyond the sun, as he sings. He is "happy to be up there" (Felice di stare lassù) as sweet music plays just for him (Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me}.

Toward the end, he reveals that his dream was inspired by his lover's eyes "which are blue like a sky studded with stars" (Che sono blu come un cielo trapunto di stelle). And the music he hears is his lover's voice.

Nel Blu, Dipinto di Blu (into the blue, painted blue)--Domenico Modugno (1958)

I heard that on the radio the other day but I didn’t recognize the voice.

I really liked the “Quantum Leap” version... but that was before actors had to get all “political” — Bakula is probably a “woke” jerk now

*sad*
