The complexity of America’s tax laws seems to increase geometrically, while the competency and efficiency of the IRS bureaucracy is, IMHO, at best flat or even declining.
The result is just incredible failure, increasing displays of incompetence, and increasing fraud.

In addition to all the other benefits of entirely scrapping the income tax, this sort of thing also wouldn’t and couldn’t happen if the income tax were scrapped.

Covid fraud was at least a trillion collars. Much of it was tapped into by foreign hackers, not even living on US soil. For those living in the USA, probably the Feds discover your fraud, only when someone squeals on you. Could be a business associate, ex-wife, ex-girlfriend, anyone.
