Massie says he's a 'NO' on Trump-endorsed government funding measure: 'Unless I get a lobotomy'
Fox News ^ | March 10 | By Alex Nitzberg

As the deadline to avert a partial government shutdown approaches and President Donald Trump urges Republicans to support passage of a funding measure, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., has declared that he will oppose the proposal.

"Unless I get a lobotomy Monday that causes me to forget what I’ve witnessed the past 12 years, I’ll be a NO on the CR this week. It amazes me that my colleagues and many of the public fall for the lie that we will fight another day," Massie declared in a Sunday post on X.

President Donald Trump has urged Republicans to pass the measure.

The jobs that Trump is creating probably won’t be here until Sept. Trump knows more about building an economy than any of these guys, or you, or me.

Massie thinks it is better to cripple Trump so the democrats can take control and finish destroying the country.

So if the CR passes, what will the debt be on 1 Oct.

Pretty sure $38T, and of course the debt ceiling raised to accommodate that.

So . . . how is he wrong. All previous CRs were urged “just this last time” and next time something will be done.

This is that next time.

All those who favor this CR . . . what do you think the odds are that 1 Oct there will be another one “just this last time.”

Bottom line. He’s right.

I can understand why many would support Massie’s position. Kicking the can down the road again just sucks. Shut ‘er down and make Congress do it’s job and pass real budgets. Unfortunately the drones we have down there now would probably pass budgets as bad as the CR’s of the past.

Politics is the art of possible.
There is no way any budget bill will 100% satisfy everybody. I would say, nobody is really 100% satisfied.
Dems do not want to help.
So We need to be unified!
Trump supports it, so it is not too bad!

Masie sounds like McCain when he single handedly denied Obamacare reform 8 years ago. His argument was “We can do better.”
Yes, Massie, stuff could be better, but if you do not support it, we will be stuck with something lot worse!

Say what you want about Pelosi.

If a member of her caucus openly threatened to scuttle a Dem bill, she would have taken that person to her dungeon and beat him near death with a rubber hose.

And enjoyed every second of it.

The Democrat wing of the uniparty imposes discipline.

The Republican wing of the uniparty plays nice and will probably serve this fat boy who played the tuba in the school band tea and crumpets after he kills the bill.

We barely have control of Congress! Real control is having 10+ seat majorities. Stunts like this is another example of posturing for personal ego & personal political PR.

The Left is almost always in politically in-step. They’re deadly serious about power. We aren’t so much, that’s why we lose it so easily.

“DOGE should be reporting its findings to Congress so Congress can go in and cut out the excess from every agency and department.”

Wow, they really can’t go to the DOGE website? The amount of information on it is completely mind boggling and transparent. Every agency head should be going through their departments with a fine tooth comb. But he doesn’t need to report it to them, he is reporting it to the world, which includes everyone in America.

“Bottom line. He’s right.”

DOGE already cut over 160 billion dollars from the budget. The 105 in savings on their website is still being updated. Even with a CR billions are being cut everyday. Department heads are now digging into their budgets and cutting them.

Massie is full of shit... Congress has several months to make these current cuts permanent, but they already happened.

Also, this is big news: All payments (and soon the justifications) will be posted publicly at The first 37,207 grant payments (3 days worth) have now been posted!

No more sneaky shit if anyone decides to pay attention. Massie can go suck on a lemon.

I get your point but really they need to follow some kind of process. Not just stuff off a website. But yeah get all the agency heads to scour the books, hold hearings, and instead of then asking for MORE money like they do every year, ask for a lot less. Explain that services won’t be impacted and that they found waste and fraud and a better way to manage things. Then it’s official and totally proper and above board. It would also show a united front. Better PR that way. Gives them all political and media cover.

"Unless I get a lobotomy Monday that causes me to forget what I’ve witnessed the past 12 years...

Maybe you can tell me, Tommy, when in those past 12 years the Republicans held the House, the Senate, the White House, and a majority in the Supreme Court?

Massie's memory includes no time like the period we are in now, and he's still being stuck on stupid about it.

DOGE identifies things. They have to be audited.

Finding Soc Sec database names over 150 yrs old does not mean checks were 1) sent to that person or 2) clearly were not cashed unless by fraud. Those names should not be in the database, but the fact they are there does not mean money was spent.

Besides which, out of $7T in spending, is 2%. It’s also only 7.5% of the deficit.

It’s NOTHING. People who expect DOGE to solve the horror of the situation have not done the math.

Err 150B of 7T is 2%. And only 7% of the 2T deficit.
