The Eastern Orthodox church has come roaring back in Russia
well, not quite - the number of Russians who IDENTIFY as Eastern Orthodox has increased (31% to 72%), but the church attendance has actually dropped in line with the drop in the USA.
This seems to be in line with the way that the ROC is positioned - that to be Russian you are a member of the ROC and vice-versa.
It is positive, yes, but not completely “they are returning to God”
