I don’t care who does it but get a temporary cease fire in place
That’s my sentiment.
Trump let him know that Antony Blinken, Victoria Nuland, and Alexander Vindman are no longer in charge of anything, and Trump is not gunning for WWIII like they were. The USAID money is gone, the military aid is gone, US membership in NATO is in question, and Zelensky has to know that Trump would not be afraid to say Ukraine can go it on its own on EVERYTHING. Offering to tie US economic interests to Ukraine is a very generous offer.
Zelensky is still saying that the minerals deal would be the start of more robust security pledges, so I’m not sure he is at the point he needs to be. I don’t know if he’s accepted that Trump will NEVER put US troops in Ukraine. That is probably the question that Trump will base his decision on, as to how to deal with Zelensky’s desire to come back to the table. And I trust his discernment on this.
But the Ukrainian and Russian people are all being held hostage at this point, and it needs to stop. I think Trump cares more about that than he does about revenge or appearances. He wants to use diplomacy to end the bloodshed. And I’m hopeful that it will work.
