Indeed. And between life and death. Extinction and survival.

If you don’t believe, I can’t make you. The dinosaurs didn’t know what hit them. The Titanic was the safest boat ever built.

History says it is coming. We just don’t know when. But the dinosaurs didn’t know what we know and couldn’t build what we can build. The Titanic was thought so safe it didn’t have enough lifeboats.

Currently, we have none.

What you call visionary, I call essential (which beats practical all to heck).

And now I’m off to bed. Enjoyed the talk. 👍🙏

Note Musk stressed robotic work on Mars. He knows the planet needs terraforming and machinery/robotics, not subject to human needs and vulnerabilities, is the way to do it.

We also have to get serious on the Equatorial Space Elevator. Recent developments in material science may make that possible far sooner than previously thought.

Eventual asteroid mining. A comet was recently landed upon and sampled so...

...a superior means of propulsion has to be developed to minimize the time those vast distances currently make impractical. All this is going to require more than the 30 years Elon's contemplating but should be pursued before mankind inevitably kills itself off or a massive catastrophe beats us to it.
