I've had both the earlier vaccine and also the improved
more recent one. No problems. It seems to work for me.
Same here - the pharmacy reminded me when the second one was warranted. You only need to have Shingles once to become a believer. Burning pain that is quite unbearable - like dozens of bee stings. I had them on my face years ago and was prescribed a topical cream that eased the pain. I didn’t want them again so got one of the few vaccines I’ve had in my long life...
People can have Shingles on other areas of the body like the back which wouldn’t be easy to cover with topical cream so I don’t know what they do for relief but believe me “relief” is necessary to keep from going nuts!
I assume I had Chickenpox as a kid. Like you I had the older shingles one shot. I’ve been reminded, I should take the new 2 shot version. After Covid I also will avoid shots....but, my dad had shingles on half of his head, it was terrible. So, I got the first shot and it didn’t really bother me. The second shot is several months after the first....the arm hurt a lot for the first and second day. Then ok. No other side effects yet.
