Good way to look at it.

Waiting from 66 +10 mo until 70 nets about 8% per year increase in SS payments, but the catch-up time frame is something that they don’t tell you about.

Plus, I could croak at any time - I feel like I should get what I can out of the system before that happens, or before some idiot in the government decides to take some away from people that saved for their retirement and give it to deadbeats (which they already do to some extent) in exchange for their votes.

There are a lot of things they don't tell you about.

The main thing is, when you retire, all you do is spend money.

Secondly those of us with a 401K, were sold on "put it in before taxes, that way when you take it out, you'll be at a lower tax rate".

What they don't tell you is you'll need to withdraw 30% more than you need so you can pay the taxes and those withdrawals put you over "the limit" so you now have to pay taxes on your SS AND your medicare is MUCH higher.

Ahhhh... If I only knew then, what I know now...

And to think people claim it's a conspiracy theory that the govt wants us stuck in the middle class..
