Congress used to require newly acquired lands to during “territory” status, then apply for statehood, either en masse or in subdivisions. Worked reasonably well, and the parties tried to balance the admission of 1 state with another of the opposite party affiliation.

But they sure love coming down here to get medical treatment. They also love spending their winters here. So, they love to take advantage of what the U.S. has to offer them. Typical liberals.
Many of those who are now the leftist extremists in Canada are the descendants of Tories who either left on their own or were thrown out of the USA at then end of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
I deal with several lumber sales people in Canada. Generally people in the lumber business are all pretty conservative salt of the Earth types. The three Canadians are all liberal to some degree.
One is very liberal.
One is moderately
One is more middle of the road.
However, none of them were fans of the trucker strike in Ottawa. I am sure they were all vaccinated for C-19.
Ontario is OK as long as you peel off metro Toronto. Quebec, the Maritime provinces, along with Vancouver you can feed to the wolves :-) You can think of Canada as America’s Belarus, a not quite sovereign appendage that is expensive to maintain and annoying. I say 54’40” or fight...but only for stuff west of Georgian Bay and east of the Vancouver suburbs.
I don’t envy you having to deal with them in that Canadian industry. My dad dealt with the northern Michigan timber industry decades ago and made lifelong friendships.
