The couple, who had been married since 1991, were found dead in separate bedrooms of their Santa Fe home, police revealed. One of their three dogs was also found dead inside a kennel.
Police have said that no foul play is suspected and that two dogs survived the triple tragedy.
While the bodies were found Wednesday afternoon, police were not able to identify them as the actor and Arakawa until Thursday morning, according to KOB 4.

Hackman and his wife were found in separate rooms The actor and his wife's bodies were found in separate rooms of their Santa Fe home, The New York Times reported.
One of their three dogs was found dead inside a kennel, according to Sheriff Adan Mendoza.
Police told the outlet that an associate of the couple called emergency services after discovering the bodies.
Sheriff Mendoza added that no suicide note was found and there were no obvious signs of trauma to the bodies.
'At this stage in the process there isn’t anything obvious like that,' the sheriff said. 'The autopsy is going to tell us more.'
The sheriff added: 'We’re not going to guess this was an accident or natural causes... It wasn’t typical.

Maybe Gene snored.
What part of sleeping in different bedrooms is "BIZARRE"?
Food poisoning?
How long since they were last seen or heard from? It’s possible she died from some illness, then Gene died of thirst being too feeble to get water. Same with the dog if it was outside in a kennel not being attended to.
Looks like it was murder suicide. The question is why did the dog do it?
What exactly was “bizarre” again?
Bodies in separate rooms is interesting but certainly not “bizarre”.
What, they gained entry to the house by climbing through the HVAC vents?
Bad food? Was the kennel heated? Why did only 33.333333% of the dogs die?
LOl good one!
They may save Hackman’s death until next year’s Oscars ceremony. The awards this coming weekend will probably honor those who died during 2024.
In this context, no idea what the “kernel” was or if it was indoor or out.
Best guess is CO Poisoning.

According to a search warrant, obtained by TMZ, a Santa Fe detective who sought a search warrant wrote in his affidavit, he believes “the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation because the reporting party found the front door of the residence unsecured and opened, deputies observed a healthy dog running loose on the property, another healthy dog near the deceased female, a deceased dog laying 10-15 feet from the deceased female in a closet of the bathroom, the heater being moved, the pill bottle being opened and pills scattered next to the female, the male decedent being located in a separate room of the residence, and no obvious signs of a gas leak.”
Being in sperate rooms is bizarre?
The Daily Mail often does good work, reporting on scandals the rest of the media would prefer to ignore.
But as you noted, they never pass up an opportunity to sensationalize a headline.
Police told the outlet that an associate of the couple called emergency services after discovering the bodies.
So, I am guessing that the police 'would not identify' the bodies until Thursday and not "were not able to identify" the bodies.
Guessing the police were waiting for the notification of next of kin.
Poor writing again by the professional press.
Sperate bed rooms.
You don’t know many older couples do you.
