A lot of people were already listening to the bands that influenced The Beatles (et al...) The Beatles stepped onto the Big Picture via Ed Sullivan in the US. Contracts and merch started flowing immediately.
The biz would sign to cow turd to get in on the action.
Read some Frank Zappa, he details the whole mess.

The Beatles invented heavy metal. Helter Skelter was way ahead of its time.

The Wrecking Crew - MADE - the famous, well, famous.
Sadly, they never got the recognition they deserved.
Such a talented group.

I saw Van Halen on their first tour as well.
They warmed up for .... The Ramones!
Hands down, Van Halen stole the show.
Shortly after, they released their first album.

Agreed....Love Chicago when Terry was alive...I also love Gary Richrath from REO Speedwagon....not those love ballads...He was a fantastic guitar player.....

I was deaf for two days after seeing the Ramones in a small club, Toad’s in New Haven, and somehow left with a footprint on the back of my shirt.

I have the book by The Wrecking Crew’s drummer Hal Blaine and it lists all the top 20 hits they played on . You’d be blown away if you saw it . I was just a kid in the 60’s and was happily unaware that some of my fave bands were not actually playing on their records !

AYBCS is yet another song ahead of its time. I remember watching The Beatles cartoon when I was a kid in the mid 60’s, they had an episode where this song was part of the plot, became my favorite Beatles song.
