The Beatles haven’t really held up over time. Certainly not as a “rock band”.
IMHO…I have varied tastes:
Fleetwood Mac
AC/DC
Rush
REM
Red Hot Chili Peppers
ALL were British.
Substitute The Doors for Queen.
Not even close.
The Allman Brothers. That was a rock band. Followed by later versions of the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Eric Clapton, and JJ Cale.
Yes.
The Who.
Van Halen.
As for real R&B: William Bell.

Turn the bass up and listen to that bass sax and bottom end. Not to mention the lyrics. Holy grail/Motown.
Re Ginger: Ya gotta respect sincerity.
If they have an over 80 fitness competition, for the right odds, I’m betting on Mick.
Agreed. And Cream should be on there too.
In case you haven’t noticed, the music world can not operate without hyperbole and superlatives.
I was watching a country music awards show and they introduced Anne Murray by saying her music had changed the world. “Changing the world with their music” is the main superlative used.
I saw them twice
I beg to differ
CSN at Murfreesboro MTSU 76
CSNY Memphis I think 74
It’s was 65% electric both shows
Lots of commercial orientation here in FR
I was a child of AM radio till 1968 then FM underground Rock took over
My chronology reflects that
I’d go in no order
Stones
Beatles
Who
Zep
Floyd
Skynyrd /Allman Brothers tie
Mostly based on dominance and influence in the era early 60s to early to mid 70s
Ritchie Blackmore was no slouch either. Definitely one of the greats.
WHAT! Chiliwack isn’t even on it!
You do know that Lennon and McCartney wrote the Stones first British hit, “I Wanna Be Your Man”, right?
That’s actually one of the cool things about the 60s, is that bands may have been rivals, but they also worked together.
Here’s a perfect example.

“The Who should be third, at least”
No argument from me.
What I take from this is that Keith Richards never looked young.
Great guitarist, not such a great person. Couldn’t get along with his bandmates whatsoever. Went on to form a Renaissance Festival type band with his new wife. One of his former bandmates quipped “It’s nice to see him help his grand-daughter get started in the music business.”
I knew you’d do that.
