I created this thread as a Catholic Caucus thread so that Catholics can have a reasoned discussion about Pope Francis/Antipope Bergoglio (whichever you believe) and his legacy (good or bad), and to discuss potential successors, without having to deal with the inevitable insults from our Protestant brethren. You can learn more about the cardinals considered to be "papabili" at https://collegeofcardinalsreport.com/, which has in depth reports on many cardinals.

It’s just been reported that he’s in kidney failure……sepsis.
He’s on his way out.

Personally, I think it is time for the cardinals to elect a non-cardinal. I have several bishops in mind I’d be very happy to see elected, however unlikely. But I’m sure there are others. Perhaps even a simple priest.

I’d be happy with any of the following:

Cardinal Sarah
Cardinal Burke
Cardinal Muller
Cardinal Eijk
Cardinal Albert Malcom Ranjith Don
Bishop Joseph Strickland
Archbishop Cordileone
Bishop Athanasius Schneider
Bishop Bernard Fellay

I would not be despondent if Bishop Steven Lopes was elected.

Here’s the document that governs what happens when a pope dies or resigns, and how the new pope is elected.

Like him or not, our duty as Catholics is to pray for his soul. God wants no one to be lost.

Pray that he repents of the evil he has done to the Church and accepts Jesus’ sacrifice and salvation.
