Personally, I think it is time for the cardinals to elect a non-cardinal. I have several bishops in mind I’d be very happy to see elected, however unlikely. But I’m sure there are others. Perhaps even a simple priest.

Cardinal Burke
Cardinal Muller
Cardinal Eijk
Cardinal Albert Malcom Ranjith Don
Bishop Joseph Strickland
Archbishop Cordileone
Bishop Athanasius Schneider
Bishop Bernard Fellay

I would not be despondent if Bishop Steven Lopes was elected.
