U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to dissolve the leadership of the U.S. Postal Service and absorb the independent mail agency into his administration, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
The newspaper, citing six people familiar with the plans, reported that Trump is expected to issue an executive order as soon as this week to fire the members of the Postal Service's governing board and place the agency under the control of the Commerce Department.

A while back someone stole some keys to some mailboxes around the area, the post office knew about it and did nothing, nada. I had a credit card payment stolen, the thief tried twice to cash the check after washing off the credit card company name. That was the last time I paid bills by mail.
“That was the last time I paid bills by mail”
I just got my wife convinced to quit mailing bill payments and pay online.
Its gotten to the point that online transactions are safer and more dependable than usps.
I’m retired from the post office. I was a clerk not a carrier. I saw many employees as just the same as private companies. Some were very hard working. Others were very lazy and did little. At my installation it was open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Three separate shifts. I had my own days of depression during the thirty years I worked there. The post office processes millions of pieces of mail every day. I’ll be very curious to see what changes Trump makes.
Man, he really wants to fix everything. Pretty amazing to have a President who doesn’t want to go to war and does want to have an efficient government that answers to the will of the people and not entrenched bureaucrats.

Clause 7: To establish Post Offices and post Roads.
You’re not kidding. I had to start paying bills online so they didn’t cut my power off. It took the payment 18 days to get there after they sent my mail to the new distribution center in Palmetto south of Atlanta. I know people who had their home insurance lapse because of “nonpayment”.
Was driving 20 miles up to NC to mail certain things which was working great. My mail went to a distribution center in Asheville, then hurricane Helene hit that area. I’m running out of options.
True. You do see that attitude in the private sector too, and it seems like it’s got a lot worse since covid.
In many private businesses, those people don’t survive long, particularly for decent paying jobs. However, there are a lot of bloated corporations who don’t value efficiency nor have the mechanisms in place to evaluate performance.
Our mail lady does this too on occasion. And the strange thing is nobody else’s box is left open.
