Pennsylvania Rep. Rob Bresnahan, vote against it and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Family, local food banks, churches, local charities, and local community services are FAR FAR better than largess wantonly poured over the land from far-away DC.

That’s the way the indigent and poor were helped a century ago before FDR started us down the communist path.

This guy does not deserve rage.

He won a redistricted district by only 1.2% and he’s a first termer.

Trump won’t be running in 2026 or ever again. No one is going to help him in his 2nd term and as the target of big Dem money coming in.

The only way for the GOP to hold the House is redistricting heavily red states that have blue seats. It will require GOP candidates winning by 20% to give up 10% of that lead in order to put their voters into other districts. Those people will never accept this because they are GOPe and their buddies in the state party will not go against them.

BTW there are 4 other seats nationwide with a GOP win of 3% or less. Without Trump, those seats are gone unless they get redistricted.

Well, consider the source, Politico. This could be all made up and none of it true.

Exactly what I was going to say when I saw where the article came from. The pubbies have been very supportive of DOGE or they they have been mum.

He represents a district filled with people who voted for both Trump and Fetterman. They have no loyalty to the GOP and will not hesitate to support a House Democrat if their taxpayer-funded finances are at risk.

I hope it doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone on this forum that Trump ran very strongly in areas of the U.S. that are filled with white people on welfare.

He actually said this, posted it on X.

The comments were not kind.

Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr.
@RepBresnahan
I ran for Congress under a promise of always doing what is best for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. If a bill is put in front of me that guts the benefits my neighbors rely on, I will not vote for it. Pennsylvania’s Eighth District chose me to advocate for them in Congress. These benefits are promises that were made to the people of NEPA and where I come from, people keep their word.

I think Bresnahan is referring to the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Coolbaugh Township.

The depot is an electronics maintenance facility that designs, builds, repairs, and rebuilds/renews electronic systems including satellite terminals, radio and radar systems, and nav. instruments.

5,000 people are employed there and it is the largest industrial employer in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The depot might undergo some streamlining, but it doesn't look on the surface like something that would be eliminated.

Good find, but with a 1% win he has to hunt more broadly.

The general concept of loss of benefits is what the Democrats will bury him with in that district.

It is important for people to realize the voters who are supported Trump don’t give a damn about aspiring first term Swamp Filth.

If this guy wants another term, he won’t get it marching in lockstep with the GOPe Swamp Filth crafting budget bills that do NOTHING. They pretend to do things and then bury in their final sentence a $4Trillion increase in the debt ceiling. If they were doing something, that ceiling would not need raising.

Anyway, he won’t get another term supporting House GOP leadership. He’s going to have to stop a bullet and walk away from it and maybe promise to leave in 2 more terms. That kind of anti Swamp perspective is his only chance. Not fiscal policy.

Medical costs have to be reduced.

On the insurance end, what I suggest is adding PPACA A&B (Medicare Part A scope & Medicare Part B scope (sans drugs)) and interstate all-the-doctors prescribe (of typically 80% or more but not all drugs) drug plan options to the PPACA program to get the process underway.

I would gradually transfer Medicaid drug buying to HHS and combine it with Medicare drug buying. The federal Medicaid co-insurance percentages would gradually get reduced about 1% each year.

On the provider end, I would:
1. split most hospitals between two operators,
2. add new one & two-year medical & dental education programs, and
3. gradually by patient age transfer the ability to prescribe almost all drugs from doctors to two-year program graduates.

With the gazillions of bs spending, why is repubs first instinct always to go for medicaire/medicaid?

Also, how many of the people too lazy to work that manage to instead get on disability really vote?

Why? Because of $1.2T interest on the national debt. And rising relentlessly. There is no fix for this.

You’re not going to see $2 trillion in cuts during Trump’s second term.

DC politicians think it’s $2 trillion annually of ‘free’ money from the national credit card.

The way to get big spending cuts is by big tax increases.

I suggest an 8% Value-Added-Tax payable by corporations, payable in year one by multi-nationals, in year two by multi-state corporations as well, and thereafter by all corporations and partnerships.

The corporate income tax rate might be increased annually by the percentage the national debt is.

Wall Street will understand what that could mean.

It would take two to three years for corporate tax rates to reach pre-Trump levels, then without balanced budgets the corporate tax rate would climb annually, roughly 29%, 31%, 33%, 35%, 37%, 39%, 41%, etc.

That is as it should be. Before we had a welfare state, it was up to churches and private organizations to provide provide for people who needed help.

I never believe the government should’ve had any role in that, or at least a limited role at best. Not the whole cradle to grave thing…
