Yes. Because they catered to ideologies in a biased way, Nihilism being at the forefront. That’s easy.

Excellence is not.

Art is by nature subjective, yet we share it. How often does it happen that one is able to separate the art/artist from their political disposition?

Joni Mitchell: I cannot stand her politics, but her skills as a songwriter and performer strike me as excellent.

We all differ on these things, so a place dedicated to uplifting excellent creativity in our midst has to be difficult to manage.

There is also a factor of impatience and ignorance in play. I do not like opera, but with an open mind and a good teacher I could easily come to love it.

Celebrating bodily deviance is just wrong and has no place Amidst a civil people of any kind.

Take a look at the Ingmar Bergman film of Mozart’s “Magic Flute.”
It’s beautiful. Only downside, it’s in Swedish. But subtitles. The singing and acting are magnificent.
I think it would be a good opera to start with.
