Nepal has a jungle called the “Terai”, and there is a well worn tourist trade to try to spot the indigenous rhinos and occasional tiger.
While staying in mud huts nearby, we were awakened by a hugh and series hullabaloo one morning. Ran outside the hut to see a rhino charging through the village with a dozen 10 year old boys chasing it and hitting it in the rump with sticks. Being essentially blind, the rhino never saw the ditch, ran headlong into it, and the ground shook when his chest hit the far side at speed.
We saw 32 rhinos in southern Nepal over 4 days in Chitwan NP. No...we neither wanted to “pet” or feed them.
