Hegseth’s visit to U.S. base in Germany met with student walkout

BRUSSELS — Dozens of American students at a U.S. military installation in Germany walked out of their middle school on Tuesday as part of protests aimed at an official visit by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, underscoring the scope of disillusionment with the Trump administration’s crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
The students attend Patch Middle School in Stuttgart, Germany, and peacefully walked out of class for nearly an hour, according to three people familiar with the matter and a letter sent to parents by a school administrator. Separately, a small group of adults dressed in civilian clothing — likely parents — gathered outside at Stuttgart and protested within view and earshot of Hegseth’s delegation, booing and chanting “DEI!”, according to video recorded by a reporter traveling with the secretary.
The protests were in response to President Donald Trump’s string of executive orders targeting diversity efforts throughout the U.S. government, directives Hegseth has carried out enthusiastically. Since he took over the Pentagon, Black History Month celebrations and other similar events have been banned and access to select books in Defense Department schools attended by the children of U.S. service members have been restricted. Those moves have drawn criticism from parents and students alike.

The student said that she and other students decided to act after seeing how Trump’s executive orders would target diversity events, including a drama club performance that celebrated Black History Month with Motown songs. Many involved in the protest, she said, also were concerned with how the Trump administration’s directives would affect people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Middle school kids.. 11 to 14 are concerned about DEI... I’m guessing teacher involvement.

I note that they didn’t keep walking. Must be holding out for something.
Clearly these peeps are in the military for the pensions and free medical care only.

Hegseth should order an immediate review of the curriculum at all DoD schools, and ask Hillsdale College to help revamp it.

Holy moly. When I was a soldier, with children, in Stuttgart, if your children messed around in the DoD school, you could see your career turn into a torch.
I have a strong feeling these children have not gotten the “there’s a new sheriff in town” speech from their serving parents.

I’m looking at the pictures and getting real homesick. I spent years running those same streets. I worked as a translator for the 1/10 SFG, especially as realting to African missions.
Man, that brings back memeories.

Back in the day when kids were going into DC to join the protests against Vietnam War we had a teacher in my high school that would conduct a pop test the day that more than half of their class disappeared. They were whining and crying when they found out that they all flunked that day’s work and when the averages were made at the end of the quarter and their grades were lowered some of them got really upset.
But you know what? the school backed that teacher.
After going to my 50th reunion hearing “War Stories” from high school it was my general assumption that most of them didn’t go to DC they just were out partying, given the chance.
Half of my school was from fairly wealthy families doctors, lawyers, some congress critters Etc. The other half were lower middle class and some middle class... the rich jerks really got away with murder and they were total A-holes as far as I was concerned.

I am largely a product of DoD schools and am angered to know something like this is occurring, particularly at an overseas location. The teachers were Federal employees with topnotch resumes and abilities as educators. Parents, the service member and spouse, were involved in school activities, most notably via a close-knit PTA. Teachers could be fired and sent home for poor performance, and service members and their families could be booted off base for misbehavior of a dependent. It came close to happening to my family when a brother & his mates were spotted making some relatively mild mischief. My active duty father, already a senior officer, received a supreme dressing down from the base commander and the commanding general. Sounds like those days may be passed.

+++++++++++
In all fairness to the parents, did they even know WTF was happening at the "school"? Parents went to work, kids went to school. Kids were forced to walk out by DEI teachers. Am I missing something?
Were the parents also in the walk out?

Wonder how many kids stayed in class?
No mention of that. Probably the majority..
Either way this is proof in the pudding.
To many perverts in the military.
