Fetterman says Democratic Party brand is 'toxic' thanks to constant 'shaming and scolding'

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman agreed that his party’s brand has grown "toxic" after years of "shaming and scolding" voters and even questioned if they can turn it around.

[snip] journalist Tara Palmeri asked Fetterman about how even insiders within the Democratic Party acknowledged the damage their image has taken since the 2024 election.

Fetterman reiterated his belief that the party did it to itself by constantly attacking and demeaning their opponents.

"I think their primary currency was shaming and scolding and talking down to people and telling them ‘Hey, I know better than you, or you’re dopes, or you’re a bro, or you’re ignorant or, how can you be this dumb? I can’t imagine it. And then, by the way, they’re fascists. How can you vote for that?’" Fetterman said.

He continued, "And you know, when you’re in a state like Pennsylvania, I know and I love people that voted for Trump, and they’re not fascist. They don’t support insurrection and those things. And if you go to an extreme, and you become a boutique kind of proposition, then you’re going to lose the argument. And we have done that."

Fetterman described the 2024 election as a "gut-check kind of vote" where Americans largely focused on who was "going to protect or project [their] personal view of the American way of life," rather than any specific policy.

With the recent Democratic National Committee (DNC) election, Fetterman admitted he was "not sure" if it was even possible to win back those voters, particularly among men.

"I think that’s been seriously eroding for a while. And in some cases, in the conversations I’ve had, a lot of people, they don’t even want to say it publicly, but they just feel like the other side seems like…the men’s the problem," Fetterman said.

A new branding shade of lipstick on that pig won’t save them. They may split into 2 parties, but either way, the Democrats are going to be in the wilderness for at least a decade

Correct. I don’t need to hear this idiot speak. He’s a moron who says some things that aren’t bat’s ass crazy. I am concerned how he votes and he votes bat’s ass crazy unless his vote doesn’t matter. He’s a worthless slob.

Why don’t they figure out his strategy? Why do they keep falling for it?

It's the perceived Democratic base that does it. They perceive that their base is Woke Democrats largely in academia (Students and Professors) and their activist press. In that, they are correct, but this is not even 10% of their constituencies.

The other constituencies are the more liberal minded who are current confused by their Parties woke policies and narratives. Some, like JFK Jr have figured out the Party left them out years ago. Some are just realizing it and other Liberals stick to the party out of shear family loyalty.

Their Hispanic constituencies are also in turmoil. Tending to be more religious and family oriented. They have been fed a diet of anti-American workism on the Spanish speaking networks. The anti-catholism of the Party is causing them to rethink their party loyalty. Their family values conflict greatly with the males in the womens/girls bathrooms in school and elsewhere, plus the loss of girls' sports to males claiming to be females has sent many to vote in Protest to Trump.

African-American women have been fiercely loyal to the Democratic Party and most ignore the women's issues. But the men have taken their parties positions on COVID, Democratic Cities Looting and Burning (which many supporeted initally) and the fact that jobs are not a priority for the party has cause a good number to vote in Protest to Trump silently. However, the majority that protested the Democratic Partys Wokism by voting for Trump do not like the Republican party at all. Thus when Trump's coattails are gone, may find themselves gravitating back to the party.

Whether Trump's resent dynamicism will change the dynamic, we will just have to wait and see. My take on the Republicans Party is that they are looking to thwart if not backstab Trump the usurper and his minions given the opportunity.

Their failure to protect the voting system has alienated many voters from the party including this one.

Like many voters these days, I have gone fiercely independent and like many loyal Americans to their country I will tell advocates of both the parties trying to manipulate my vote, that it is None of their Business, thank you very much, my wallet now being closed to both of them.

To get one thin dime out of me they will have to prove their loyalty to this country and benefit me and my family securely. As it is right now, it will be a very hard boat to row for both of them.

It's likely that Black men were motivated to vote for Trump and it's extremely unlikely his successor will be able to get the votes from them the next time.

The only way I can see it happening again is if Kamala Harris decides to run for President again in 2028.

Once upon a time, Trump was almost universally admired by black men. Perhaps that time has come again.

He talks a good game.

Now he needs to start walking the walk and supporting President Trump in key votes.

Perhaps that time has come again.

Funny thing is that he's more "black" than Obama.

“ Hes the new Manchin. Talk tough then vote Democrat”

Fetterman will have “permission” to vote with Republicans when his vote does not make a difference. Democrats have always done that with Senators who are from purple states or Representatives from republican districts.

While I certainly do not agree with him on much, I am amazed at how well he has recovered from his stroke. Almost ashamed of some of my thoughts towards him while he was running for office. Seems like he is positioning himself for a party switch.

Don’t believe it. So he gives republicans a break ONCE? That’s no carte blanc for republicans to accept him with open arms. We “used to” demean him for a reason. The guy can be bought, so we don’t want him infiltrating.

Idk about that but I’m sure President has employed more private sector men period. Whatever their color. Every nationality has probably had a hand or voice in the builder’s journey. Mr. Obama was about division and tearing down. I believe Mr. Trump has a life long collage of renewal, ingenuity, vision and determination. If history proves accurate, they will give the man credit for reversing our self doubt and loathing. More!

Fetterman, The Slob is a Fake Moderate, just like Joe Manchin was a Fake Moderate.

I did not know he was Lurch size. I always thought that definition was because of his facial looks and stroke. Now it makes sense. But can he convert to be a Republican? I’m not sure but he seems the closest one to do so. We got Tulsi and
RFK jr to switch teams, he is probably the closest one left if there were any pre midterm party flippers.

Good post! I hope the deviants ‘continue to fight on a losing hill. The Dems are the party of trans creeps and the GOP has to keep pounding on them to keep supporting those deviant devils.
