Fetterman says Democratic Party brand is 'toxic' thanks to constant 'shaming and scolding'

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman agreed that his party’s brand has grown "toxic" after years of "shaming and scolding" voters and even questioned if they can turn it around.

[snip] journalist Tara Palmeri asked Fetterman about how even insiders within the Democratic Party acknowledged the damage their image has taken since the 2024 election.

Fetterman reiterated his belief that the party did it to itself by constantly attacking and demeaning their opponents.

"I think their primary currency was shaming and scolding and talking down to people and telling them ‘Hey, I know better than you, or you’re dopes, or you’re a bro, or you’re ignorant or, how can you be this dumb? I can’t imagine it. And then, by the way, they’re fascists. How can you vote for that?’" Fetterman said.

He continued, "And you know, when you’re in a state like Pennsylvania, I know and I love people that voted for Trump, and they’re not fascist. They don’t support insurrection and those things. And if you go to an extreme, and you become a boutique kind of proposition, then you’re going to lose the argument. And we have done that."

Fetterman described the 2024 election as a "gut-check kind of vote" where Americans largely focused on who was "going to protect or project [their] personal view of the American way of life," rather than any specific policy.

With the recent Democratic National Committee (DNC) election, Fetterman admitted he was "not sure" if it was even possible to win back those voters, particularly among men.

"I think that’s been seriously eroding for a while. And in some cases, in the conversations I’ve had, a lot of people, they don’t even want to say it publicly, but they just feel like the other side seems like…the men’s the problem," Fetterman said.

Fetterman is a Democrat from the last generation.

Liberal, but not woke.

Yeah, that’s it-shaming and scolding. Not policy and tactics. Got it.

The most sane Democrat is the one recovering from a stroke.

But then he votes along with them. Talk is cheap. He gets paid to spew BS rhetoric.

Fetterman may be the only Senate Democrat with a modicum of common sense and honesty, but so far, he has always been there for Schumer when his vote mattered.

You’re not helping, by rejecting Tulsi and RFK Jr.

Uncle Fester, it’s not only that, but its the constant siding with all things perverse. Yes yes the scolding, faux outrage and the holier than thou is pretty off putting too.

Fetterman identifies the hallmark attributes of Fascism - obtaining conformance through use of shaming, scolding, and ridicule.

The Democrat Party is toxic because of President Trump’s “super power” political strategy:

Donald Trump is kryptonite. Which is why Gavin Newsom did not run for President in 2024.

From what I’ve noticed, since the inauguration “the people” have calmed down a little. But the pols and MSM have gone more extreme in their insanity. I think it’s because they’re all terrified of what’s going to be discovered about their crimes, thanks to Elon’s kids.

It’s extremely hard for me to admit it but I never imagined Fetterman would actually stand out as a voice of reason in the Democrat party.

While I certainly do not agree with him on much, I am amazed at how well he has recovered from his stroke. Almost ashamed of some of my thoughts towards him while he was running for office. Seems like he is positioning himself for a party switch.

True. Despite the apparent closeness of Trump’s 2024 victory, nobody had a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Trump - there has never been a politician like this - he is unbeatable.

The deep state and fake news lies and brainwashing shenanigans made it look close but it wasn’t.

Only idiots like Joe and Kamala would be stupid enough to try it.

If anything resembling the truth had been reported over the last ten years, all three of Trump’s wins would have been 1972 level landslides.

Watching the political capital he is wielding right now, it’s obvious 2024 was far more lopsided than the official 312-226 score.

Fet is a throwback garden variety Democrat, he reminds me of when they were not so radical and still cared about America rather than wanting to destroy it.
