Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman agreed that his party’s brand has grown "toxic" after years of "shaming and scolding" voters and even questioned if they can turn it around.
[snip] journalist Tara Palmeri asked Fetterman about how even insiders within the Democratic Party acknowledged the damage their image has taken since the 2024 election.
Fetterman reiterated his belief that the party did it to itself by constantly attacking and demeaning their opponents.
"I think their primary currency was shaming and scolding and talking down to people and telling them ‘Hey, I know better than you, or you’re dopes, or you’re a bro, or you’re ignorant or, how can you be this dumb? I can’t imagine it. And then, by the way, they’re fascists. How can you vote for that?’" Fetterman said.
He continued, "And you know, when you’re in a state like Pennsylvania, I know and I love people that voted for Trump, and they’re not fascist. They don’t support insurrection and those things. And if you go to an extreme, and you become a boutique kind of proposition, then you’re going to lose the argument. And we have done that."
Fetterman described the 2024 election as a "gut-check kind of vote" where Americans largely focused on who was "going to protect or project [their] personal view of the American way of life," rather than any specific policy.
With the recent Democratic National Committee (DNC) election, Fetterman admitted he was "not sure" if it was even possible to win back those voters, particularly among men.
"I think that’s been seriously eroding for a while. And in some cases, in the conversations I’ve had, a lot of people, they don’t even want to say it publicly, but they just feel like the other side seems like…the men’s the problem," Fetterman said.

I liked Uncle Fester better when all he did was the light bulb trick.
He’s such an anomaly in that party.. He’s indoctrinated but at least he listens a little.
He’ll still do what he’s told.
Isn’t voting for RFK or Tulsi.
He’s a blue senator in a red state. He will walk a narrow path, as does Collins, a red senator in a deep blue state.
He seems to fake sincerity very well.
Well.....he ain’t wrong
He was taken to the woodshed by party leaders for a good beat-down. It may have served its intended purpose for the moment, but Fetterman is an odd duck. It will eat on his slightly rewired brain and he will act out on the threats from within his party. He won’t go silently with a light bulb in his mouth. Fester also had a panache for blowing stuff up.
Shaming scolding and forcing.
He makes some good points. But will other Democrats listen and learn?
Some Democrats may think, they just weren’t shrill and angry enough, about how Trump is Hitler and all that. They just didn’t convey enough about how the oceans are boiling, and how you just haven’t lived, until you’ve had your sex change operation, and how we are a nation of immigrants, so that we have to allow illegal aliens without restriction.
I don’t wanna hear his Happy Talk when he consistently votes with the party he criticizes.
Ain’t buying what he’s selling.
“He will walk a narrow path...”
At 6’8” and 270 lbs. he ain’t walking nowhere narrow brother. Lol!
The Democrat Party is toxic because of President Trump’s “super power” political strategy:
1) He Intentionally fosters hatred and resentment among Democrats so that they will respond with “knee-jerk” opposition to everything he does or says.
2) Identify dozens of “80/20” issues - and stake out the side with 80% popularity.
By doing this, the President has forced the Democrats to embrace hundreds of deeply unpopular positions.
Why don’t they figure out his strategy? Why do they keep falling for it?
They are blinded by rage.
Don’t worry. Now they have David Hogg to set them right.
He’s had a severe stroke and still has a better mind than 99% of the Demoncrats.
Yet he’s voting against RFK Jr and Tulsi.
He says things like this as if he’s more aware, and maybe smarter than his fellow Democrats. Then he ends up voting just like them. He doesn’t seem to realize he is part of the problem.
