I'm old enough to remember the Bicentennial in 1976. I was just a kid then but I remember the Tall Ships in Boston Harbor, all the fireworks, and that "Skyrockets In Flight" song that was all over the radio during that time (actually "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band).
It was a nice time for America even though we were just a few months away from electing Jimmy Carter.
Looking forward to this 250th bash, I'm sure President Trump will throw an epic party for us all.

The Bicentennial was a grand celebration; indeed, it was!
The celebration actually started a couple of years early, with the "Bicentennial Minute" appearing on network TV regularly. There were also "Contributors to the Cause" postage stamps and Bicentennial coins.
That was back then when America was still America, but we're on our way back now, thank God.

1976 was a great party. I had a 1776 Teeshirt and $300 worth of fireworks. We accidentally set fire to the old green cove springs bridge but we got some buckets and managed to put it out before anybody noticed. Alchohol and weed might have been involved. 😄

I remember the tall ships in 1976 in the Delaware River in
Philadelphia. I was 12.
