If "take over" means they will come in, raze the rubble, dismantle the tunnels, regrade the land, rebuild the area to modern standards, and then turn the region over to the former residents, why not?

This is the first thing Trump has advocated that I disagree with. HELL NO, let’s have nothing to do with Gaza. Let the Muslim countries rebuild it if they want. Perhaps then they’ll have an interest in seeing it not destroyed again by the likes of Hamas.
