The U.S. Army has identified the third pilot of the H-60 Black Hawk Helicopter that collided with an American Airline CRJ-700 passenger jet on Wednesday as it was on approach to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, killing 67 people.
Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, 28, from Durham, North Carolina was one of three soldiers aboard the chopper that crashed into the jet just as it was coming into land.
The Army had initially refused to identify Lobach at the request of her family but the decision to release her name came 'at the request of and in coordination with the family,' according to a statement released by the Army.
'We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Rebecca. She was a bright star in all our lives,' her family said. 'Rebecca was a warrior and would not hesitate to defend her country in battle.'
Lobach had worked as a White House aide during the Biden administration and had served as an aviation officer in the Army from July 2019 until January 2025.
Her family went on to describe her as 'kind, generous, brilliant, funny, ambitious and strong.'
Lobach had been awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Are you saying that a woman cannot be a good pilot. I certainly don’t agree with DEI. I agree more with meritocracy. If this woman is qualified to be a pilot absent DEI, then that puts another spin on it. Trump probably jumped the gun on that until an investigation had been done.
If there was a DEI problem, it sounds like it was at the FAA and and their hiring practices not on the female pilot.
Norm. :-)
Are you saying that a woman cannot be a good pilot
Sure. If she gets the same training, and has the same experience of a man pilot, instead of being hired ahead of men with more experience, just to fill a quota.
I thought Trump said the helo was flying 200 feet above its allowed maximum altitude. So maybe it was flying at 2200 feet.
True.
However, it's different during combat. Hegseth is against it for obvious reasons. I trust his judgment.
If we get to hear the info on THE BLACK BOX, we will know who was at the controls.
Lesbo with all kinds of photos at pride marches, worked at the White House as a backdrop soldier escorting VIPs around, special training as a member of the army sexual assault and sexual harassment response and prevention team.
Sounds like she has been involved in everything except flying.
Less than a month ago she was still working that white house gig. They were training her and trying to get her current and mission qualified again.
Bottom line, she was substandard and an example of the rot Hegseth has to deal with.
Yes, I agree women should not be in combat. Support roles, yes, but not on the front lines.
Has the early reporting of one out of two air traffic controllers not available that night due to staffing shortages caused by DEI only hiring held up?
BTTT!!!
BTTT!!!
“I will add that I am relieved the pilot wasn’t some kind of suicidal trannie. “
It’s much nicer that she was a substandard pilot, a militant lesbo, was highly trained in sexual harassment and assault, and walking around the White House escorting VIPs to and from the stage, getting coffee etc.
I’m sure that’s a comfort to the families of the dead on the airliner.
Hopefully, Hegseth can make it happen. Our culture is changing. The Left got away with a lot for so long.
She was a SEXUAL HARRASSMENT VICTIM officer???
Was she a lesbian?? The one girl in the pictures is holding a gay flag???
“Are you saying that a woman cannot be a good pilot. “
They can, but it’s well demonstrated that their spatial perception and understanding is not as quite good as males.
That is exactly what came into play here.
Women can of course, just as a man could be an Ob/Gyn nurse. But both would be like a dog walking on it’s hind legs. Unnatural looking and never really done that well.
Horses for courses.
Did you see my post #31. I agree that a “substandard” pilot should not have been training in that corridor.
Also there is a way too much fixation on “who was at the controls”. That is a two pilot aircraft. BOTH pilots have serious responsibilities for watching airspeeds, altitudes, engine instruments, listening to ATC and looking for traffic.
It’s not like one guy flies and the other just sits there looking at the scenery.
I’m pretty sure it still means the same thing.
The fact of the matter is that DEI caused her own death and the death of dozens of innocent people. She should have been nowhere near those flight controls.
