
Couldn’t wear that uni off post either, but the workplace was not safe for the next cheapest uniform in the Corps. Scuff the shoes you are out $50. I always wore a flightsuit since those were issued. And it is a uniform that is inspected during IG inspections. That said, maybe the General was going tactical as a nod to SecDef’s concentration on warfighting.
If Pete showed up on really short notice, maybe during working hours, I can see sticking with the work unis. If the troops had a few hours notice I expect there will be some head jerking. I remember being allowed to wear fresh utilities to and from a reserve drill because sometimes that’s all there was.
The standing color guard is always ready to go. Sometimes in the field everyone dresses the same——just to make it harder for an un-friendly to pick out a target. Need to know more about these circumstances before jumping too hard.
