my dad used to collect silver coins; silver certificates and wheat\indian\steelie pennies that came his way.
When he passed on. I took the pennies and my sister took the silver.
My sister spent the money (just shoot me) and I stored the pennies.
I’ve never looked at them deeply.
Thanks to this convo, maybe it’s time to find ‘em and look at ‘em closer.
Indians and Steelies are typically worth a “pretty penny” (yes pun intended. Wheats are dependent upon the year and mint mark which varied by production quantities.
you’re likely sitting on a 3-5x mark up at a minimum and it only takes one penny with a die issue to make it 100x what a normal one would be.

My Grandfather collected wheat pennies also.
He had a delivery service so at all the little convenience stores he stopped in along the way he got the cashiers to set aside only the wheat obverse coins aside and he would trade them for cash or silver plus add two bits for their help.
Over several years he filled dozens of coffee cans with those pennies before he retired.
