The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated a recall of Lay's potato chips across Oregon and Washington and labeled the affected product with its highest risk level. According to the FDA, the recall was initiated on December 13, 2024, and the risk level was assessed as a "Class I" alert on January 27, 2025. The reason for the recall is the potential undeclared presence of milk, a known allergen, in the affected products.
The voluntary recall was announced by the Frito-Lay company in December. According to the agency's website, the FDA assigns Class I designation to recall situations in which there is "reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death." In this case, anyone with a milk allergy or sensitivity should avoid consuming the affected chips.
Per the FDA's enforcement report, 6,344 bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips were recalled. Those affected had both a Guaranteed Fresh date of February 11, 2025 and a manufacturing code of either 6462307xx or 6463307xx. In a December 16, 2024 press release, Frito-Lay clarified that no allergic reactions related to the recall had been reported.

I like Lay’s Potato Chips with sour cream chip dip. Those allergic to the milk in the chips can’t even have dip with the good chips.
I always feed my cows potato chips for breakfast.
Uh-oh. We just did a whole dairy pun series...
I’d bet I’m the only commenter here that worked in a food factory.
I was a Electronics technician, one of the highest paid hourly people in the factory. I was a Retired Engineer and
only took the job to get my wife Medical insurance.
I had to run or shut down that factory with only two weeks training, my decisions were carried out, and I was responsible for those decisions.
Until you have worked in a food factory, you would not believe how through they are with cleaning!
I worked at the Mauna Loa Mac Nut factory when Hershey’s owned it. Those Filipinos were some motivated cleaning
animals.
I didn’t stay long as I wasn’t family( eg. not Filipino) and I didn’t go to Hilo high school, plus they didn’t want to deal with an aerospace engineer, ex-military that could do everything they asked (Ever repaired and hooked up a 17 kV power line to a factory?) I hadn’t either but I got it done. My HR outgoing interview, revealed. They did pay my un-employment insurance also.
Main thing is we got my wife medical insurance that I could convert and afford.
All these recalls...what the heck is going on?

That could have been much scarier, so I was surprised.
I figured by now the tubes would have needed to be larger in order to accommodate the ingredients list.
The MSG is the reason people will eat an entire can.
