He did not strike me as someone from L.A. Go figure. He seems to be the main force behind the Chiefs’ success.

I wouldn’t say he’s the main force. I mean it helps a lot they’ve got a once in a lifetime QB. And the GM has built a solid team around him. Reid is at least a good enough coach to not muck it up though. I was never terribly impressed by him in Philly, but he’s definitely earning his reputation in KC.

He seems to be the main force behind the Chiefs’ success.

He is - along with his long-term staff, especially defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuola.

Mahomes is good, but he wouldn't have anywhere near his success without these two coaches - and vice-versa. Same with Brady and Belichik. The two complemented each other.

Guess which kid is Andy???

I have a old baseball team photo from when I was a kid... One dude is much larger than the rest of us, and it's just as hilarious.

Very good friend of another California boy, Mike Holmgren (Green Bay, Seattle). Both part of Bill Walsh’s west coast offense system.

Yeah you would figure the physically fit coaches with good hair fit the stereotype of being from LA, not the big, heavy, bald older dude.

No disrespect to the legends of the past like Lombardi, Madden, Noll, Shula, Walsh, etc. but Andy may likely end up catching Shula for wins and possibly Belichick for rings by the time he is done, assuming he and Mahomes stay healthy.

Nice puff piece. One misstatement. You can’t “see the lights from Dodger Stadium”...but you can see the lighted sky from the lights...
Marshall High was taking students from all economic strata. From the wealthy families of Los Feliz, to the lower income families of Elysian Valley {frog town). There was a diverse “racial” mix. White, asian, black, Hispanic. Marshall High was the 60s and 70s liberal dreamworld. About 70-80% of the students went to college. The collegiate gothic style of the school has been used in many TV shows and movies...from Mr. Novak to Nightmare on Elm Street and many other media projects. There were also other people who were famous...e.g. Mike Haynes...all pro/all world DB with Oakland Raiders...Dr David Ho one of chief investigators of HIV virus. All in all a good incubator for success in life.
One very notorious exception was Caryl.Chessman....whose execution for kidnapping ,rape, and robbery was an impetus for death penalty changes. FYI
