You keep telling me that my traditional views regarding education are a source of trouble. I disagree. I am a Citizen of the United States. It is my duty, in this self-governed land, to maximize the quality of life and prosperity of this Nation. I took an Oath of Office to defend this Nation from all foes, foreign and domestic. I view the degradation of the schools to be the work of domestic enemies. It seems natural to fight back and defeat them.
To my way of thinking, you are taking an elitist route, leaving your fellow citizens to die on the battlefield of poor philosophy. The Founders wrote at length about the need for the entire population to be well educated in order have expectations of longevity for the Republic. We have arrived at a sad state of affairs, mostly due to a degraded education. The ONLY recourse to that failing is to restore the quality of education to all.
It is our civic and Christian duty to restore the entirety of our Republic to its full potential. This clearly involves overhaul of schools and numerous other institutions. Such cannot be accomplished without influencing the philosophical and political outlooks of parent and voters. That is a very broad front for such a battle. On the other hand, our civilization is collapsing right before our eyes. If the best we can do is to retreat into private enclaves then collapse is a forgone conclusion.
Back in the days of the Vietnam War protests there were two slogans: America, love it or leave it and America, change it or lose it. Do you remember which side said which? Who won? The hippies won, mainly because they can work together.
"America, change it back, or lose it" aught to be the new battle cry.
