I don’t agree at all. Parents usually favor their most unattractive child.

There is no doubt I have a favorite child, it’s my first born daughter, that has no siblings.

My favorite child is the one who is least irritating me at any given moment. It changes continuously.

Among our five siblings, it’s the first-born male, the third child. (Not Italian.)

I don’t have a favorite, even though some of them are easier to get along with than others.

I love them all equally, but like different things about each one of them.

children who are agreeable and conscientious

Duh! I’m more partial to the ones who lie, argue, and don’t listen to a word I say.

My mother said it was no secret that I was my dad’s favorite child but he loved my two sisters also. Its not my fault that I gravitated to the outdoors and was always out tramping the woods or fishing with my Dad. We had similar personalities and I just liked hanging out with my Dad. He was my hero.

The compliant child is usually the favourite, but rewarding compliance is not what should be done imo.

I’d rather have a moral child, one who can stand against the world, than a compliant one. I’d rather have children stand up to me if it involves differences of opinion, but not immorality.

I could not have cared less whether my parents, especially my father, liked me.

I’m the youngest of two. Sometimes I wonder if my brother was a Changeling because we grew up with the same parents and he’s always been an angry, resentful narcissistic liberal.

Fine by me. As the last child in the family I was ignored and had the most freedom. It was great. I got away with a lot more than my siblings could have ever dreamt of.

“But new research is blowing the lid off the ugly truth — there’s almost always a top tot in the brood. And, sorry boys, it’s usually the girl.”

And if there are four boys and four girls???

I think the “research” is anecdotal and not scientific.

I know families where the only boy is the favorite. I know different families where the youngest is the favorite, some boys, some girls.

I honestly think personalities of the children, regardless of gender, determine either parent’s favorite more than anything else.

"could lead to family chaos, per the findings." Gosh, gee, really? How did they ever figure that out? They must be genius! I am awestruck!

I always suspected but now, at my age and after what I have seen, I am convinced that there are not many new things under the sun, just new people who learn them and somehow think they are the first to do that.
