Ok I don’t get the joke!
Neither does the UK
What joke? 🤡
Apparently five women have accused him of sexual abuse.
He denies it, but BB seems to be taking it seriously.
BRILLIANT
I tried watching his American Gods thing. I found his “Gods” to be so far outside the “canon” of the myths e.g., what Norse & Irish mythic figures were that it was unwatchable. I assume the book is as bad or worse. If he’s an example of a modern SciFi author, I am glad I fell out of the habit of reading SciFi.
I enjoyed ‘Good Omens’ and the ‘Stardust’ movie.
And he’s probably better than most.
He opened American gods book with a great quote. He didn’t write it, and that’s the highlight of the stupid thing. Here it is:
A Kentuckian was once asked what he considered the boundaries of the United States. “The boundaries of our country, sir?” he replied.
“Why sir, on the north we are bounded by the Aurora Borealis, on the east we are bounded by the rising sun, on the south we are bounded by the procession of the Equinoxes, and on the west by the Day of Judgment.”

Lord those English Bobbies are so stupid a wise populace wouldn't allow them to carry guns, ... oh, wait, ... never mind.
The real problem is, you have to stop and ask if this is even real satire! It’s soooooooo close to being plausible.
I’ve never thought of him as a ‘sci-fi’ writer; more of a ‘satirical fantasy’ sort of writer.
He’s mainstream.
I know of him from Coraline.
I thought perhaps he’d be a worthwhile read. Turned out not.
I read his Sandman series during an especially turbulent period of my life and it provided much needed escapism.
Third season of Good Omens was reduced to a 90-minute special after Gaimen left the production because of allegations.
We didn’t like the TV series; the book was pretty good.
Allegations?
That is as in UK Muslim-like behavior?
Exactly.
Ahhh!
Sorry I seemed thick about this. If I am going to radically increase my disdain for him, I want it to be correct and for the right reasons.
Allegations of your being a member of an Islamic grooming gang, conducting predatory behavior against young white girls brings a yawn from the UK government, and if you're white, and you publicly talk about it, then you're rounded up, arrested, and thrown in jail like Tommy Robinson has been. Thus the satire from Babylon Bee about Neil Gaiman joining an Islamic Groom Gang to protect himself from prosecution.
